    I have 2 grey 128k spectrums, I repaired 1 of them and socketed all the ram, I was on a roll I thought, as it was rather successful, so I decided to do the same to the other spectrum right away, what an absolute disaster! Pads flaking off like fish scales! Them speccy boards vary very widely in quality, and it appears that the later revisions are made cheaper than the earlier ones. It's still yet to be fixed, but it is something I will leave until I can muster up the courage and patience... Thank you Mark for another spectaculator spectrum repair video, that is how I found your channel many years ago, I hope you repair another one day!

    I understand your reasons for stepping back, but you could always consider going a bit more lo-fi. If you switch over to doing stuff live you would not need to spend a lot of time editing. Naturally the whole thing would not have the same polish but if it's either that or nothing I'm sure most would prefer it.

    As I always say, mass capacitor changes often cause more problems than they cure. I've got 100's of arcade bards and quite a few computers from that same era and very few have had to have any capacitors changed for reliable operation.

It’s sometimes good to hear others talk of financial struggles, as like myself our mortgage will be going up massively in a few months which basically means we have little spending money. We are lucky in that we have enough for a decent life and to keep a roof over our head but much more increases in costs and it would be a problem. I think people watch you not just expensive projects mark. Maybe not having commercial sponsors is a blessing!

    Mark. I can see how emotional this has been for you to make. Please don't take this as any kind of personal criticism but for me - the double entendres as you mention, caused me to stop your videos. I don't doubt you have vast expertise in repairing vintage computers/consoles/tings, but you are competing against others in that space Before the C19 word, you said you had a different career/job - how is that progressing these days? I notice behind you, you have an abundance of valuable computing - do you not sell any on? All that and more, I wish you well.

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff 8 дней назад

      Yes I appreciate my style isn’t for everyone, but that’s me. My problem isn’t competition or lack of views, nothing has changed on that side. The issue is that all the bill have gone up and I can’t continue to film in this place. As I said in the video I have been doing extra work in my day job in order to cover the additional expenses, but that’s no longer an option. I tend to buy broken computers and quite a lot of the ones behind me are upcoming projects. If I sold them I’d have no future content, and it wouldn’t really make a different long term anyway. This isn’t a video about me complaining about lack of views, competition or lack of support. I’m telling people that I need to downsize and they’ll be seeing that in the channel. Simply that. Thank you for watching and thank you for your input. I really appreciate it.

I could see how my comment could have been taken the wrong way and I'm glad you didn't I know you are also rebounding from something that I can't comprehend. However. from watching your videos for years now, I know that you have the skills and expertise for fixing things that I personally could only dream of.
